On March 27, the annual Occupational Advisory Committee Dinner was held to show appreciation for our committee members. Additionally, CPAVTS recognized its Business Partner of the Year: The Ames Companies, Inc., of Carlisle, PA.

Each of the 22 programs at CPAVTS has an Occupational Advisory Committee that provides guidance and support to ensure that programs prepare students with the skills and knowledge that their chosen fields require. These committee members are seasoned professionals with a keen insight into the trends and changes sweeping their industries. Their dedication is invaluable in keeping our programs as up-to-date as possible by providing this knowledge to our instructors. “You’re only as good as the company you keep” - Aesop.

Ames has been associated with CPAVTS for many years, and in that time, not only has the company served on the advisory committees in the Logistics & Warehouse Management Program and the Precision Machine Technology program but they also are helping to guide the development of the newest program at CPAVTS: Automation, Robotics, and Electronics. (coming  2018/2019)

The staff at Ames True Temper Distribution Center were instrumental in the development and implementation of the inaugural Logistics student internship program during this past autumn, allowing Logistics students the opportunity to gain real-world experience in a large distribution facility. Additionally, Ames has provided technical expertise for the scanning technology utilized in the Logistics program.

The industry professionals, who generously offer their time and other resources to improving the quality of education that our students receive, are a major factor in why CPAVTS is so successful today. We would like to thank our OAC members and The Ames Companies, Inc. for their efforts to promote the importance of Career and Technical Education!
