What is the hardest part of your program?
“Going back to home school when I could easily keep working here.”
What is the most fun part of your program?
“We have a robot, a hydraulic trainer, electrical circuits, and it is all very enjoyable.”
What is some recent technology you are learning to use in your program that is specific to your profession?
“I am building a UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle), commonly known as a drone.”
What is your plan for after high school?
“I want to attend Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology, and major in Electro-Mechanical Engineering.”
What is going to be the highlight of the year in your program?
“Getting to fly our UAV.”
What are you the most proud of learning in your program?
“Troubleshooting basic electronics, this skill helped me with building my own solar panel cellphone charger.”
Explain a typical day in your program.
“Working with one of the three areas of our program: automation, hydraulics, robotics and electronics, both in theory learning and hands on practice.”
How is your program at CPAVTS different from other classes you have had in the past?
“Hands-on learning with the occasional lecture. Every Friday we are able to select a project to work on, an example would be the UAV.”
What advice would you give to a beginning Level 1 student who is just starting the program or to a student who is considering enrolling in the program?
“Mr. First is building an Iron Man suit, known as an exoskeleton, if you’re curious, come check it out!”
