What is the most significant new or different aspect to your program this year?

We are picking, packing, and shipping apparel orders for Goodwill Industries.”


What particular training/unit do employers seek that helps students get their foot in the door?

“Forklift Operator Training, and using barcode scanners.”


What is some of the recent technology and/or trends in the profession with which students become familiar?

“Barcode scanners, and warehouse management software.”


What unit/topic do students struggle with the most in your program? Why do you think that is?

“Inventory Management- students have to be 100% accurate when counting the stock/inventory.”


Explain a typical day in your program.

“We process UPS and Fed-Ex shipments. Picking, scanning, customer orders, loading and unloading trailers, and forklift training.”


How many years have you been at CPAVTS?

“This is my 18th year at CPAVTS.”


What is your experience before coming to CPAVTS?

“I was a warehouse manager of a large industrial supplier in Philadelphia, PA.”

 “I learned how to be organized, process customer deliveries and operate forklifts.”


What is the hardest part of your program?

“Learning to operate forklifts in tight spaces.”


What is the most fun part of your program?

“Delivering supplies to other programs.”


What is some recent technology you are learning to use in your program that is specific to your profession?

“Barcode scanners and Fed-Ex shipping software.”


What is your plan for after high school?

“I plan to continue working for Penske Logistics, in the Whirlpool Distribution Center.”


What is going to be the highlight of the year in your program?

“My Cooperative Education job.”


What are you proud of learning how to do in your program?

“Operating a 10,000 lb. forklift.”

“Processing UPS and Fed-Ex shipments, making deliveries and operating the forklifts.”


How is your program at CPAVTS different from your other classes you have had in the past?

“Lots of training and experience (first hand/hands on).”


What advice would you give to a beginning level 1 student who is just starting the program or to a student who is considering enrolling in the program?

“If you work really hard, you can get a great paying job in warehousing right out of high school.”
